Through an urgent request received by a specialized biohazard cleaning company, the dog was rescued from a household that could no longer provide proper care and is currently being protected at our center.

Bongji came to our center after a report from a partnered professional cleaning company.
One day, the company received a reservation email.
The guardian had been struggling with emotional difficulties for a long time and had reached a point where they could no longer care for the dogs.
In the email were a few short but desperate words:
“I think I need to let the dogs go first.”
“Please take good care of them.”
When we arrived at the home for the rescue,
the guardian had already left.
Inside the house,
the TV was still on — left playing so the dogs would not feel alone.
The clothes carefully put on Bongji to keep warm were still there.
The guardian’s heart, thinking of the dogs until the very end,
quietly lingered in the space.
At the time of rescue,
Bongji stood for a long while in front of the bedroom
where the guardian had gone in and never come back out.
It was as if waiting for something.
Watching Bongji hesitate to leave that spot
made our hearts ache even more.

Bongji came to our center together with Dono, the cat she had been living with.
At well over 10 years old,
her entire world changed overnight.
Until then, Bongji appeared to have been lovingly cared for.
She was on a prescribed veterinary diet
and seemed to have consistently received basic medical care and attention.
To someone, she was clearly
a deeply cherished family member.
Perhaps that is why
life at the center has not been easy for her.
In unfamiliar spaces and with sudden touches,
she startles easily, shrinking back and trembling at times.
But Bongji (Somang)
does not dislike people.
If you approach her gently, she will quietly look at you.
She loves food,
and behind her soft, gentle eyes,
there is still warmth.
She is a beautiful senior dog,
now just a little more fearful than before.
Bongji must now begin the rest of her life again.
No longer waiting alone,
but falling asleep in a place of comfort instead of anxiety,
she is waiting for a family
to whom she can become a part of their everyday life.
We are looking for someone
who will make sure the rest of Bongji’s time
is not lonely,
not cold,
but filled with more warmth than ever before.
